This information, pursuant to Article 13 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council, is provided in accordance with the provisions of Legislative Decree 196/2003 and subsequent amendments of the Italian Republic, the Provision of the Data Protection Authority no. 231 of 10 June 2021, and Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council.
What are Cookies?
Cookies are text strings that websites (so-called publishers, or "first parties") visited by the user, or other websites or web servers (so-called "third parties"), place and store—directly, in the case of publishers, and indirectly, i.e., through the publishers, in the case of "third parties"—on a user's terminal device. These terminals include, for example, a computer, a tablet, a smartphone, or any other device capable of storing information.
Internet navigation software and the operation of these devices, such as browsers, can store cookies and then retransmit them to the sites that generated them during a subsequent visit by the same user, thus maintaining a record of the user's previous interaction with one or more websites.
The information encoded in cookies may include personal data, such as an IP address, username, unique identifier, or email address, but may also contain non-personal data, such as language settings or information about the type of device a person is using to navigate the site.
Cookies therefore perform various important functions, including session tracking, storing information about specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, facilitating the use of online content, etc. They can be used to track items in an online shopping cart or information used to fill out an online form.
Cookies can, among other things, allow web pages to load faster and route information across a network, in line with requirements strictly related to the operation of websites. Cookies can also be used to deliver behavioral advertising and measure the effectiveness of the advertising message, or to tailor the type and method of services provided to previously observed user behavior.
Types of Cookies
Italian legislation (Article 122 of Legislative Decree 196/03, "Personal Data Protection Code," hereinafter referred to as the "Privacy Code") has enacted Directive 2009/136/EC into our legal system. This Directive requires website operators who use cookies or other tracking technologies to inform users of the types of cookies used by their site.
With Provision No. 231 of June 10, 2021, published in the Official Journal No. 163 of July 9, 2021, the Italian Data Protection Authority divided the types of cookies into two macro categories: "technical" cookies and "non-technical" cookies.
Technical Cookies
They are installed by the owner or operator of the website for the purpose of "carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network, or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user to provide such service" (Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Privacy Code). The installation of Technical Cookies does not require the prior consent of users.
First-party and third-party analytics cookies
They are comparable to cookies and other technical identifiers only if:
The owner who directly carries out the statistical processing of data relating to multiple domains, websites, or mobile applications attributable to him may also use the data in clear text, in compliance with the purpose constraint.
Non-technical cookies
They are used to trace back to specific subjects, identified or identifiable, specific actions or recurring behavioral patterns in the use of the features offered ( patterns ) in order to group the different profiles within homogeneous clusters of varying sizes, so that it is also possible to modulate the provision of the service in an increasingly personalized way, as well as send targeted advertising messages, i.e. in line with the preferences expressed by the user while browsing the internet.
Article 122 of the Privacy Code refers to them, stating that "the storage of information in the terminal equipment of a contractor or user, or access to information already stored, is permitted only on condition that the contractor or user has given his or her consent after being informed in accordance with the simplified procedures referred to in Article 13 of the Privacy Code, paragraph 3" (Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code).
The Guarantor has also categorized cookies based on the entity acting as data controller of the personal data collected by the cookie, distinguishing between "first-party" cookies and "third-party" cookies.
First-party cookies
They are managed by the website owner. For these cookies, the website owner is responsible for providing information. The website owner is also responsible for indicating how to block the cookie.
Third-party cookies
They are managed by a third party other than the website owner. For these cookies, the third party is responsible for providing information and indicating how to block the cookie. The website owner is required to provide the URL where these elements are available.
For both types of cookies (first-party or third-party), consent is collected, which is required if the cookie is a profiling cookie, via a specific banner on the site's home page.
Types of cookies used on our website
This website uses technical cookies, which can be used without the consent of the Data Subject, as they are strictly necessary for the provision of the service. Furthermore, third-party profiling cookies may be used, the use of which is subject to the consent provided directly to such third parties by accessing their cookie policies. Profiling cookies may be used by the Data Controller or the owner of the cookie itself to remember the choices made by the Data Subject, to provide personalized or optimized features, or to remember the habits and preferences expressed during browsing. For example, profiling cookies may be used to offer the Data Subject online services, to send them advertising tailored to their interests, or to prevent them from being offered services they have previously declined.
The next section of this Cookie Policy contains a detailed list of all the cookies used by this website.
The first group lists so-called technical cookies, the use of which does not require the user's consent.
The second group lists profiling cookies.
For both groups, the following information is provided for each type of cookie:
